NYPS Knights Rebel Against Empire

May 16^th, 2012 - The build-up to the game had been huge with the Knights really needing a victory to keep on track with their quest to win the Thruway League, but they were up against an Empire Buffalo team who had only just a week ago sent the boys home early from the State Cup.

It couldn’t have been more of a different game though with the Knight’s, having learnt from the previous game, dominating the game from the go. The boys won every second ball, were physically and mentally tougher, and won all the individual battles that went on in the different positions. Knowing what was needed this time around to upset Empire, the Knight’s did their job to perfection. They pressurised high up the field and didn’t let up for the whole game. They forced Empire into error after error and by half time the possession stats were showing 70% possession to the Knights. Of course with that kind of possession there was bound to be chances with Mikey, Brandon and Hunter all coming very close to scoring.

The breakthrough came on 30 minutes when Knight’s captain, Shane Fiust-Klink, directed his header over the keeper into the far corner of the goal. You could see the sheer determination and adrenaline flowing from the boys now as they refused to give Empire even the slightest sniff of goal.

The second half kicked off with, if possible, even more intensity from both teams. Clearly both coaches had done their jobs in getting the player’s mind-sets right over the break. But it was coach Patterson’s boys who continued to push and they hit the woodwork twice in search of that second goal. It wasn’t needed in the end though as the Knight’s defence topped off a fantastic performance with a clean sheet! When the final whistle went you could see how drained the boys were but also how much it meant to them. A truly deserved victory which puts the boys top of the Thruway League table with 5 games left to play!

NYPS will hold team specific tryouts during the month of July for teams in NYPS Buffalo Region

NYPS offers a unique club structure that is dedicated to helping young players maximize their full potential. NYPS have proven success at improving players technically, tactically, physically and psychologically.

NYPS staff each licensed with qualifications from the UK, Ireland and the US. In the Premier and Junior Team programs, each team is overseen by a Head Coach, an Assistant Coach and a Regional Director of Coaching (RDOC). The Head and Assistant Coach work closely with an NYPS Senior Staff member who acts as the RDOC, overseeing each team from the U9 – U18 age. This allows constant communication regarding ODP and National Team identification, as well as recruitment and game day management.

Message from Dale Jordan – NYPS Junor and Premier Director

May I take this opportunity to recommend NYPS to you . Having been with the club as Junior and Premier Director for over one year now, we are witnessing positive change on and off the field as we adapt to the needs of young committed players, the opportunities that exist at regional and national level and the logistical issues which face modern families.

Great coaches measure success not just by the trophies that they accumulate but by the difference they have made in the progress of the young players with whom they work. The NYPS mission statement talks about the “pursuit of excellence” and not the “pursuit of winning." Our focus as a club is developing excellent players and excellent people. We are committed to guiding all our young players towards realizing their full potential as players who can eventually play at the highest levels of the game possible.

A young player’s soccer career is a fabulous and wonderful journey that will take many twits and turns. By pursuing excellence in the four pillars of the game, we are developing players who are technically sound, tactically aware, psychologically tough and physically fit and in so doing, we know that success and winning will undoubtedly follow even if perhaps not immediately. As the game continues to evolve along these lines, the teaching and coaching of our young players must evolve, and we at NYPS will aspire to lead the game in the development of players by looking forward and anticipating the necessities to participate at the highest level.

Success is most likely achieved through good habits and the earlier they develop positive habits on and off the field the more successes they can build on. Soccer is not a mathematical equation – it is a game filled with passion and emotion, a game that requires players to have high quality receiving skills who must have the awareness and vision to formulate the “pictures“ of what they are going to do next, players who can pass the ball accurately over short, medium and long distances, who can dribble and turn with the ball at the right times, and who can both create and take advantage of goal scoring opportunities as well as preventing them. Nowhere is this more evident than with Spain at national level and Barcelona and Real Madrid at club level.

The game has an infinite amount of variables and therefore evoking good habits in young players is essential and likewise, encouraging them to be creative and expressive is a vital foundation in technical and decision based practice that will give them the confidence and ability to play out from the back and through midfield. In encouraging this development pathway for young players then we will nurture them to be expert decision makers who can provide the unexpected skills which can change games at the very highest level.

If you as a parent are considering the soccer possibilities ahead for your son or daughter for season 2012-13, and are looking for a positive rewarding experience, then you need look no further than NYPS. If as a player you are committed to becoming the best you can be, then in joining NYPS you will be in the correct environment to flourish and achieve your goals. NYPS Produce Strong Performances in the Weekend’s Games

May 14th, 2012 - On a weekend where epic games were being played in the English Premier League, New York had its own set of battles going on as all NYPS Knights teams were in action as well as the NYPS Rochester U11 Girls. It was a fantastic weekend for the Knights where all teams came away with at least a point from their games. It wasn’t as great a weekend for the girls who still put up a strong performance but unfortunately with the result going the other way in the final minute.

NYPS U14 Knights 1 – 1 Empire Syracuse

The first game of the day, on Saturday morning pitted the NYPS U14 Knights against a strong Syracuse side who were topping the table at the time. The boys were unlucky not to come away with all the points but fair play to Empire who stuck at the game and scraped a draw out of it. Empire were a very strong side and opened up the game with crisp passing and a high tempo game. The Knights soaked up the pressure and began to turn the screw back on Empire. It culminated when Logan Sherman opened the scoring in the first half with a very strong run and a calm finish at the end to beat the keeper.

The second half was more open with both sides looking for an opening to score. The goalkeepers for both teams played a huge part in keeping the ball out of the net and their teams in the game. The wind proved a tough addition to Empire’s attack and the defence couldn’t hold out for the game as Empire managed to squeeze in an equalizer near the end. Man of the match was Aaron Fiust-Klink

A great performance from the Knights who were unfortunate not to take all three points from the game.

NYPS U16 Mundials 3 – 1 Corning United

The NYPS U16 Mundials got their first win of their Thruway league campaign with a well-deserved 3-1 victory over Corning United in Lockport on Saturday.

The Mundials opened strongly playing good football and were rewarded when Luke Hollenbeck got on the end of a Tyler Michaels cross to put the NYPS side 1 – 0 up. The Mundials then extended their lead when Audi Francelmont got on the end of an Adam Strassner through ball. A great first touch and quick look up were all he need as blasted the ball home to go 2-0 up.

The second half saw some sloppy play from the NYPS side that lost concentration and conceded a soft goal to give Corning some hope. The Mundials however, responded well and took the game back to Corning. They were rewarded 10 minutes later with a goal from Luke Audsley, to ensure the 3 points went to the NYPS team. Man of the match was Eric Curtis

NYPS U14 Knights 0 – 0 FC Dutchman

In the NYPS Knights second game of the day they took on an FC Dutchman team who had been beaten last week by the Empire team the boys had drawn with earlier today.

Even though the game was scoreless it was by no means a boring affair. Both teams were going for it from the start and credit to both defences who stood strong and refused to concede. The soccer played by both teams was lovely to watch and it would have been harsh on either team to lose at the end. That didn’t stop both teams trying to take their chances though and both keepers played super games and pulled off some quality saves to keep their teams in it.

So overall a fair result and that extends the U14’s unbeaten streak to 2 games! If we keep that going the only way to go is up the table! Man of the match was Andrew Sczepanski

Super 9 U11 Boys 4 – 4 NYPS U11 Knights

The U11’s continued their unbeaten start to the season but also dropped their first points of the year as they drew their opening Thruway League game of the season. It was described as one of the most exciting games an NYPS team has been involved in and it was close to being one of the most major upsets for any NYPS team too.

The boys started the first half with a bang and dominated completely. By half time they were 4-0 up and cruising after goals from Aaron (2), Raphel (1) and Matty (1) who all showed great skill and composure to take their chances.

In a real game of two halves, it was a completely opposite story in the second half. Super 9 flew out of the traps and grabbed 3 early goals before NYPS could fully register what was really happening. The boys finally got to grips with it and set up a thrilling last 20 minutes as Super 9 pushed for their equaliser and NYPS looked to get the comfort of a two goal lead back. And the neutrals certainly got their money’s worth when Super 9 got the equaliser with 10 minutes left to play. It was real nail-biting time as neither team wanted to lose but both wanted to win. Chances came for both sides but the standout moment was when NYPS keeper Zachary Cox came to the rescue and pulled an amazing save out of the bag! He played a great game the full way through and was deservedly named man of the match for the game.

Cobras FC U11 2 – 1 NYPS Rochester U11 Girls

The only loss of the day came to the Rochester based NYPS girls who were unlucky to be beaten by a strong Greece Cobras team who refused to give up on the day and be beaten.

NYPS took an early lead and had the lion’s share of the possession and chances in the first half. The second half was a different story though and when Cobra’s pulled back a goal it was always going to be a struggle to the end. Both teams had their chances and a draw was probably the fair result based on the performances but in the last minute Cobras stole in and nicked the win. A tough way to lose for the girls but based on that performance they know they were just as good as the other team and will be back fighting again in their next game!

FC Dutchmen Toros 3 – 3 NYPS U16 Knights

In NYPS’ 4^th draw of the weekend, the Knights took an early lead through Dakota when he nicked the ball from the opposition goalkeeper and slotted it home. The second followed ten minutes later when Mike Ford scored assisted by Brandon. Dutchmen recovered from the initial onslaught and got reorganized. They started to move the ball very well, and deservedly put one past Austin. NYPS was given a Mother’s Day gift when, 5 minutes later, they were dragged down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Unfortunately, captain Ross Suitor could not put it away and the game carried on.

In the second half the Toros got two goals within a ten minute spell to take a shocking lead, but the Knights did a fantastic job at getting back into the game and scored a deserved equalizer by Daniel Warner, assisted by Ross Suitor.

Don’t forget there is still one game left to play this week; the State Cup rematch of NYPS U16 Knights against Empire Buffalo. Buffalo got the better of the Knights in the cup but the Knights will be out to set that record straight tomorrow night in Akron. Kick-off is at 6pm in the Akron Soccer Complex so if you’re doing nothing for the night, get down there and show your support!

Ocean City FC to join forces with Global Premier Soccer to launch Jersey Premier Soccer

Waltham, MA, 9^th May 2012; Jersey Premier Soccer (JPS) has become the latest addition to the Global Premier Soccer (GPS) network that includes franchises in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, Florida, Vermont and Rhode Island.

Jersey Premier Soccer has been created in partnership with Ocean City FC, one of the leading player development programs in southern New Jersey. Ocean City also operate one of the leading USL Premier Development League (PDL) franchises in the country, the Ocean City Nor’easters.

Expanding and enhancing Ocean City FC’s current programs, JPS will offer a wide range of soccer products and services and will introduce the School Of Excellence Program to townships with a view to creating an improved player development environment in New Jersey primarily via curriculum, coach education and year round coaching from professional coaches.

“As well as a unique club system, methodology and support network, JPS will bring a curriculum that has developed national team players and a culture that brings townships and clubs together,” said Jersey Premier Soccer General Manager Neil Holloway. “JPS will strive to create more opportunities for players and help players fulfill their potential.”

With headquarters in Ocean City, JPS will work with existing townships and clubs to launch year round premier teams with tryouts taking place at the end of the spring. “JPS will provide players and families in southern New Jersey a tried and tested player development model that has produced regional and national caliber youth players and teams throughout the GPS network,” said Holloway. “We look forward to providing a pathway to the collegiate and professional level for our players as JPS becomes the Premier club in southern New Jersey and beyond.”

Two prominent local coaches based in central New Jersey have also joined JPS. Martin Punt and Christy Holly are well recognized in central New Jersey as two of the leading youth trainers and will facilitate JPS establishing a presence throughout central and northern New Jersey.

“With the existing base of programming and staff at Ocean City, coupled with the expertise of Martin and Christy, we are off to a great start,” said GPS CEO Joe Bradley. “We expect to make an immediate impact in the local player development environment by combining our resources and taking a collaborative approach to building programming.”

Rowdies renew partnership with GPS Portland Phoenix

Rochester, May 9th, 2012; The Tampa Bay Rowdies today announced that they have renewed their partnership with Global Premier Soccer’s Portland Phoenix of the Premier Development League.

The two clubs will continue a relationship that began in 2010, with a focus on player development and domestic player recruiting, as well as expanding brand awareness for both clubs throughout North America.

The Rowdies have placed several players on the Portland Phoenix roster over the past two seasons for further evaluation and development. Past Rowdies trialists that have played with the Phoenix include midfielder Kyle Clinton, goalkeeper Will Dieterich, defender Brian Fekete, defender Ryan Griffin and goalkeeper Ryan Thompson.

The Phoenix has first team status within the MPS organization, which previously fielded the Cape Cod Crusaders (Crusaders) PDL franchise. The Crusaders had a long and outstanding reputation of success after winning back-to-back national championships in 2002 and 2003. The Crusaders also established themselves as one of the leading clubs for moving players into the professional ranks in the United States and Europe.

The Phoenix currently competes in the PDL Eastern Conference within the Northeast Division along with clubs such as the Ottawa Fury, Vermont Voltage and New Hampshire Phantoms. In 2011, the Phoenix won the PDL Northeast Division title and will be playing the first round of the 2012 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup against the Brooklyn Italians of the NPSL on May 15.

“Global Premier Soccer has had success at all amateur levels and in the PDL,” said Rowdies President/General Manager Andrew Nestor. “The Portland Phoenix and head coach Paul Baber have a similar vision and method for player development which we have refined since 2010, and will help the Rowdies recruit from the college ranks and also further develop players for the Rowdies first team.”

Global Premier Soccer Announce Partnership Agreement with AS Roma

Rochester, 8^th May 2012; Global Premier Soccer (GPS) and Associazione Sportiva Roma (AS Roma) are delighted to announce the signing of an agreement to identify and develop players talented enough to compete in the AS Roma first team and to expand the AS Roma brand in North America.

AS Roma is undergoing a restructuring under new American ownership with the goal of establishing Roma as a global brand and securing a regular spot in the UEFA Champions League.

GPS, who currently operate youth soccer programs in eight states, has become a leading source of US Youth National team players in recent years with two GPS players currently in the U-15 National team and three players developed by GPS selected to the US U-17 Residency program in recent years.

The agreement will include access to the AS Roma curriculum and will be unique in providing Academy programming that will identify the best U11 and U12 players in certain regions. The existing GPS Inner-City initiatives will be co-branded with Roma and will become part of the exciting Roma Academy program that will be offered at no cost to participants.

“The agreement with AS Roma presents a tremendous opportunity for GPS players to touch a leading European soccer club,” said GPS CEO Joe Bradley. “We hope to make this a ground breaking venture that goes beyond what European clubs have done in the past in the US market. With the commitment to the inner city program, the ability to offer Roma Academies for the very best players at no cost and the technical support provided, we believe we have something special.”

Roma has already confirmed a summer tour of the US with games at Fenway Park on July 25^th sandwiched between games in Chicago and New York. GPS will provide a supporting role in promoting the tour.

Thruway League Takes Centre Stage for NYPS Teams

May 11th, 2012 - The New York State West Thruway League returns to action this weekend after State Cup games filling up most team’s schedules last weekend. All NYPS teams will be in action except for the NYPS U12’s who played there fixture last weekend with a fantastic win against Empire Buffalo (6-2). This weekend is packed full of action for most teams but none more so than the U14 Knights and U16 Knights who play two fixtures each this weekend!

In the first of two tough fixtures the U14 Knights host Empire United Syracuse at Batavia Sports Park at noon on Saturday. Four hours later it all kicks off again against FC Dutchmen who again will present a very difficult challenge but who also lost to the Empire team the boys will have taken on earlier in the day. So a win in the first game could be a good indicator for the second!

The U16 Mundial’s are the second game of the day on Saturday kicking off at 2:30pm against Corning United who sit one place above the Mundial’s on goal difference alone having also lost their first game. It’s a big chance for the Mundial’s to get their season going with a strong performance and a win here.

The U11 Knights make up the final fixture of the day on Saturday as they travel to Greece to take on the Super 9’s. The Super 9’s had an exciting start to the League tying their first game 6-6 with Blackwatch Buffalo and you wonder will that experience stand to them as they take on a Knight’s team who have yet to play a Thruway League game. BUT let’s not forget that the U11’s are coming off the back of two very successful weekends where they have won the Ohio Nike Challenge Cup and the Akron Kick It First Tournament. So the boys are on red hot form at the moment and to make the fixture even more tantalising is that this game will be Super 9’s second of the day after they will have already faced top of the table Empire Syracuse in an earlier kick off.

The first game on Sunday has the NYPS U11 Girls travelling to Greece to take on Cobras FC who are without a win in two games. This will be the girl’s first ever Thruway League but they must fancy themselves against a team who have conceded 5 goals in their opening two games and only scored 2 themselves. The girls are also coming away from a fantastic indoor season having only lost one game in the whole thing and that was the final.

The U16 Knights wrap up the fixture list for the week with one game on Sunday afternoon and another on Tuesday evening. The first of the two, on Sunday, is against second place FC Dutchmen who had a difficult 1-0 win in their first round against Webster Dynamo. The Knights then are coming off the back of their own 1-0 which came against bottom of the table, Greece Cobras. This promises to be an exciting game and is a great chance for the boys to open up an early lead at the top of the table over RFC U16’s who don’t play until Monday.

The final fixture of the week has the U16 Knights hosting Empire United Buffalo in a rematch of last week’s State Cup game. Empire got the better of the Knights that game but the boys will be out for revenge this week and beating Empire would be a great step towards it.

U11 Knights Win Akron Kick It First Tournament

May 7th, 2012 - The NYPS U11 Knights built on their recent cup victory in Ohio, taking their amazing run of form into the Akron Kick It First Tournament, where they picked up yet another winner’s medal. In a fantastic display which saw the team concede only 1 goal all tournament, there were great passing plays, fantastic goals and of course a rock solid defensive effort which was key to their success.

The boys kicked off the tournament with a tough fixture against Victor Soccer Club Crew. It was a tough start for the team with the Kick-off at 8am but thankfully they didn’t have to travel as far as the other team. Once the boys got into the game, the play really started flowing. It was a fantastic team effort and the boys scored some quality goals to win 3-0. The second game was a much more straight forward affair where the boys dominated the game from start to finish and racked up a very convincing 5-0 victory. The third game on Sunday was a different story to the first game where this time the boys flew out of the traps and were all over the other team from the go. The goals just kept coming and it was a huge 8-0 win at the end.

The final game had an extra buzz about it because it was against the NYPS Rochester U11 Boys team so a nice friendly rival game to finish off the tournament which at this stage the boys had already won due to Victor having drawn the previous game which they needed to win to keep the pressure on. In a much closer encounter than the previous games NYPS Rochester gave a great showing and a strong performance to keep the game really close. It finished with the Knights edging the game 2-1 but both teams performed admirably and can hold their heads high!

The other big result of the weekend saw the NYPS U12 boys beat Empire Buffalo 6-2 in the Thruway League! It was a great encounter with lots of exciting moments from both team, fantastic fluid passing movements, bursts of skill and top quality finishing. It was a good bounce back from a disappointing defeat in the State Cup the previous day.

The other State Cup results from the weekend were bitterly disappointing as both U16 teams crashed out of the Cup after strong performances by both teams. The Knights dominated their games possession wise and had the lion’s share of the chances but two swift counter attacks from their opponents resulted in two goals and the boys just couldn’t find the net on the other side. The Mundials’ gave a strong showing but were just overcome in the end by a Baldwinsville team who really showed up hungry on the day to push and get the victory. Well done to both teams and we’ll be back again next year!

So another great weekend for the U11 Knights, a mixed weekend for the U12 Boys and bitter disappointment for the U16 Knights and Mundials. We look forward to next weekend where Thruway League is back in full swing with almost all NYPS teams back in action.

NYPS’ Danny Warner’s Italian Job

April 11^th, 2012 - On March 31^st 2012, NYPS player Daniel Warner set off with his Region 1 team mates to Pistoia, Italy where there were taking part in an International Tournament including teams from Italy and Russia. It was a two week affair with the Region 1 boys giving a great show coming away with two wins against A.C. Capostrada (Italy) and Zenith (Russian) , one loss to Inter Milan (Italy) and one tieagainst Livorno (Italy) who went on to become tournament champions.

Overall it was described as a great success by the team coaches Pat Laughlin and Brian Tompkins. The players all had a fantastic time and Danny played brilliantly and represented NYPS very well. Well done Danny!

Danny came to us at NYPS in 2010 after impressing at our tryouts and has gone from strength to strength since due to the fantastic coaching received from NYPS coach Brian Patterson as well as the fantastic structure and oppotunities offered by NYPS.

Through playing for NYPS, Danny has been consistently playing at the highest level and will be involved in as many of the top showcases and tournaments in the country. This is all part of being with an NYPS team as we strive to get all of our players playing at the highest level they possibly can, whether that be Varsity soccer, College soccer or even Professional soccer.

European Championships for 2012 are Almost Upon Us!

March 28^th, 2012 – June 8^th sees the 14^th European championship kicking off in the Polish capital of Warsaw. The European Championships are one of 6 continental championships for international soccer that take place worldwide throughout a 4 or 2 year time span. The most recent continental championship held was the African Cup of Nations which saw 16 countries from Africa competing for honours with Zambia coming out on top. The other continental championships are: Asian Cup (Asia), Copa America (South America), Gold Cup (North America) and Nations Cup (Oceania).

This year’s European Championships are being co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine and will start on June 8^th with the group stages and will end on July 1^st when the final is played in Kyiv, Ukraine. It’s the first time either of these two countries have hosted the European Championships and it’s a hugely anticipated event for both countries!

In order to qualify, a team must finish in one of the qualifying spots or win a play-off. After this a team proceeds to the finals round in the host country, although the hosts qualify for the tournament automatically. So Poland and Ukraine both automatically qualified for the final rounds. The qualifying phase began in the autumn after the 2010 FIFA World Cup, almost two years before the finals.

So after one and a half years of qualifying games being played 14 teams reached the final rounds of the competition and the two host countries join them here to make 16 teams. They are: Poland, Greece, Russia, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Rep of Ireland, Croatia, Ukraine, Sweden, France and England. To see the results of the qualifying click here. These teams are then divided into 4 groups of 4 teams.

The groups for qualification are drawn by a UEFA committee using seeding. Seeded teams include reigning champions, and other teams on the basis of their performance in the preceding FIFA World Cup qualifying and the last European Football Championship qualifying. To obtain an accurate view of the team’s abilities, a ranking is produced. This is calculated by taking the total number of points won by a particular team and dividing it by the number of games played, i.e. points per game. Each group will contain a top seeded team, a second seed, a third seed and a bottom seed.

For the group stage each team will compete against the other teams in their group in once off games. The top 2 teams in each group will progress on to the knockout stage of the competition where it will be straight one game eliminations to the final.

So as the start of the competition approaches Spain are the firm favourites to win it out with England as 4^th favourites and Rep of Ireland coming in as 11^th favourites. For a full list of odds and favourites for the tournament click here.

Spain of course are current European and World Champions having won the previous two competitions and with a star studded squad including players like Xavi, Iniesta, Fabgregas, and David Silva amongst so many more it’s very hard seeing past the champions for someone to kick them off the top.

Two Former GPS players Ink MLS Contracts

27^th March, 2012; Two former Global Premier Soccer players have recently put pen to paper and signed contracts in Major League Soccer (MLS).

After competing for the GPS Portland Phoenix in the USL PDL last season, Bryan Gaul and Aaron Schoenfeld have been signed by the LA Galaxy and Columbus Crew respectively.

“It comes as no surprise that Aaron and Bryan have signed contracts in Major League Soccer after excelling during their time playing as part of the GPS organization in,” said GPS Portland Phoenix Head Coach Paul Baber. “At GPS we pride ourselves on preparing our players for the next levels of the game and we are delighted to act as conveyor belt to the MLS for both these players. At GPS we have an outstanding reputation of moving players into the professional ranks.”

Schoenfeld and Gaul follow in the footsteps of former Phoenix player Ryan Thompson into the professional ranks. Thompson signed a professional deal with Irish side Shamrock Rovers who competed in the group stages on the 2011 UEFA Europa League alongside English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

The GPS Portland Phoenix competes in the Eastern Conference, within the North East Division, of the PDL against such clubs as Ottawa Fury, Vermont Voltage & New Hampshire Phantoms. The GPS Portland Phoenix will play their first game on Saturday May 12 when they play Vermont Voltage, 6pm kick off at Deering High School, Portland.

GPS Conduct Staff Training Weekend in the UK

Waltham MA, 6^th March, 2012; During the weekend of February 24^th-26th, Global Premier Soccer (GPS) held a staff training weekend in the UK for the first time in club history.

Peter Bradley (GPS Director of Coaching), Nick Dunbar (GPS Academy Director) and Andrew Moir (GPS UK Recruitment Consultant) lead 53 new staff through the training weekend at Mottram Hall, Cheshire that included a presentation on GPS, on field practical training and a coaching assessment for each individual staff member.

“The GPS training weekend allow GPS senior staff to asses each individual not only in a face-to-face environment but also in a practical setting with an on field coaching assessment,” said Dunbar. “At GPS we pride ourselves on employing positive role models with the ability to provide high quality coaching. We are extremely pleased with the coaching quality and we look forward to the best crop of staff to date joining us in 2012.”

The standard profile of a GPS staff member is a UEFA B or FA Level 2 coach who has at least two years coaching experience. The typical educational background of a GPS coach is an individual with a degree in either sports management or sports coaching who has a desire to forge a long-term career path in coaching.

“Reflecting on the weekend, we are extremely confident that the latest staff recruitment interview series and training weekend has provided us with an influx of quality coaches for each franchise under the GPS umbrella,” said Dunbar. “We look forward to welcoming each new staff member aboard and having them undertake a carefully managed further induction program on their arrival.”

NYPS Announces New Partnerships to Increase 3v3 Tournaments Top Prize

March 1^st 2012 – New York Premier Soccer, as part of Global Premier Soccer, had already teamed up with Challenge Sports last season to bring a regional qualifier tournament which qualified the top teams in the state to go play on the national stage at the 3v3 Challenge Tours National Finals.

This year we are pleased to announce partnerships with 3v3 Live Soccer Tours and Kick It 3v3 Soccer who will use New York Premier Soccer’s regional qualifier as a qualifier for their national tournaments as well. Therefore the top teams in each division from this coming June’s 3v3 tournament will automatically qualify for all three national finals tournaments which are being held in ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World Resort!

NYPS Winter Camps Great Success

February 29^th 2012 – Last week saw the start of the camps for 2012 and they got off to a great success with NYPS running returning camps in Honeoye Falls and Webster and then a new camp in Newark!

Newark, hosting its first NYPS camp, was held in the Newark Middle school which had a fantastic facility and provided a great environment for the camp which was run by coaches Declan, Rob and Brian. Players here learnt various foot skills, played mini competitions and took part in the camp world cup!

“Just want to thank you and the other coaches for holding the camp this past week. My son had a great time, learned some great skills, and looks forward to participating in another camp/clinic in the summer and/or next year. Hopefully I can get my daughter to join next time too. Have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you again down the road.”

Honeoye Falls, a regular host of NYPS camps, had a very successful camp hosted by the high school and middle school. All kids really enjoyed themselves as they received coaching from Dale, Rob, Joe and Rachel for 3 fun filled days of soccer! Campers really enjoyed the homework they received from the coaches which got the players learning about the countries they were representing and drawing the flags for their country!

Premier Sports, Webster played host to our NYPS Premier Camp, where players playing in our Premier teams were invited to take part in a 3 day camp, which would act as a team building exercise, as well as allowing the coaches time to further work with their players and increase their skill levels. As Coach Scarlett said “It allowed for the players to relax a little and get to know each other a little better whilst still practicing what was needed to improve the team”

Premier Sports, Webster also was the venue for a Goal Keeping camp hosted by Wayne Wings Soccer Club and run by New York Premier Soccer. This camp divided into two sessions to cater for younger and older goal keepers was a fantastic opportunity for local goal keepers to get some high level goal keeper specific training in. The camp was run by NYPS General Manager Chris Howard ensuring that the goalies got the best possible coaching we could offer. Players all left sore and bruised from all the diving but soaring in confidence after a tough but beneficial session.

Registrations Now Open For Regional Qualifier for Challenge 3v3 National Championship

NYPS are proud to announce that the second annual NYPS Regional Qualifying tournament for the Challenge 3v3 National Championship will be going ahead this summer on June 30th.

3v3 presents the unique opportunity to have very small sided games where players are encouraged to show off all their flair and skill and to really enjoy playing soccer. With only three players on the field and no goalie you can be assured this tournament is going to be a goal fest and will have outbursts of fantastic individual skill all over the place!

Rosters are set at 6 people max so there’s the potential for some clubs to enter more than one team at the same age group!

As an added bonus to getting to play in this fun tournament, the top teams from the divisions will be invited to go to Florida to compete in the Challenge 3v3 National Championships being held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World® Resort! This is an invitation only tournament and the winners of it have the opportunity to go on and compete on a Continental and World stage if they progress through.

Global Premier Soccer Conduct Staff interviews Across UK & Ireland

Waltham MA, 14^th February, 2012; During the first week of February, Global Premier Soccer (GPS) held a series of recruitment days in six separate locations across the UK & Ireland in search of new coaches for the organization.

Mass Premier Soccer senior staff member Graham Munro interviewed a total of 75 candidates at locations in Chester (University of Chester), Wycombe (Buckinghamshire New University), Leeds (Leeds Metropolitan University), Edinburgh (Easter Road Stadium), Belfast (University of Ulster) and Dublin (UC Dublin) for open positions at each of the eight franchises (Massachusetts, Maine, Florida, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Jersey and Rhode island).

“The GPS recruitment days allow us to asses each individual candidate in a face-to-face interview with a view to inviting prospective staff to an induction weekend which will involve curriculum training and an on field coaching assessment,” said Munro. “At GPS we pride ourselves on employing positive role models with the ability to provide high quality coaching. NYPS Premier Team Player Captains ODP Region 1 Team

Rochester, 13^th February, 2012; New York Premier Soccer would like to congratulate Premier Team player Daniel Warner on being named captain of the ODP Region 1 team who beat region four, 4-0 on Saturday the 28^th of January.

Warner, who has participated in the ODP program for a number of years, has previously attended trials with professional Scottish Premier League (SPL) team St Mirren FC.

“We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Daniel on another well deserved recognition,” said NYPS General Manager Chris Howard. “It is very pleasing to see a player like Daniel, who has been in our program for a number for years now, achieve this accolade. He is a fantastic role model for all players within our club.”

Daniel, from Lockport, NY, has been a member of the NYPS Knights program since inception, and was recently joined in the club by his younger brother Matthew who plays in the NYPS Juniors program.

6^th February 2012; Vermont Premier Soccer (VPS) and Nordic Spirit Soccer Club are excited to announce a partnership that has been established to enhance the player development opportunities for players in Vermont and mutually benefit the programs and goals of both organizations.

VPS is the latest entity within the Global Premier Soccer (GPS) network (globalpremiersoccer.com) that includes franchises in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, New York and Florida. VPS will work alongside the current staff and board of Nordic Spirit to further the club as the leading organization in the territory. Nordic and VPS will immediately focus on developing the best players in the region and developing teams that can compete on a regional and national level.

“Nordic is already respected as a leader in Vermont premier soccer,” said VPS Director of Football Paul Baber. “By combining resources and creating new programing across the whole of Vermont, we hope to further Nordic’s brand and raise the level of player development within the state.”

GPS launches Vermont Premier Soccer

Vermont Premier Soccer (VPS) has become the latest addition to the Global Premier Soccer (GPS) network that includes franchises in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, New York and Florida.

Vermont Premier Soccer will launch a wide range of soccer products and services including camps, clinics, coach education and club programs to Towns, Recreation Departments and clubs throughout Vermont. The full time coaching staff from VPS will work with, complement and enhance the soccer experiences of players in Vermont.

VPS will also institute a vertically integrated player development model that caters for development from the age of 4 - 18 years. Commencing in 2012, players will enter an integrated system from an early age with a clear development pathway, working with our professionally licensed coaches and an age appropriate curriculum. This will lead to an improved player development system and the appropriate development environment for these players.

“As well as a unique club system, methodology and support network, VPS will offer camp and clinic programs, bringing experienced coaches into local communities to work with players of all ages,” said VPS Director of Operations Iain Manson. “As per our mission, VPS will strive to produce players who can compete at the highest level of soccer competition throughout the world.”

The School of Excellence (SOE) Program was launched by GPS founding organization Massachusetts Premier Soccer (MPS) and currently has over 1100 players enrolled in the system in MA. The SOE program is geared towards dedicated and talented individuals who are looking for advanced soccer training with similarly talented peers and is unique in terms of full-time licensed professional coaches conducting a club wide structured curriculum. The SOE program was designed to supplement, as opposed to replacing, local club and recreational programs. The success of the MPS SOE program has been highlighted by producing two national team/pool players in recent years. VPS will be implementing a similar program in 2012.

NYPS Host Annual College Seminar and Coaching Symposium

Rochester, NY, 26^thJanuary 2012; New York Premier Soccer (NYPS) recently welcomed Global Premier Soccer (GPS) Director of Coaching Peter Bradley to Rochester for the weekend.

Bradley led an informational meeting on the college application process for players and parents from Rochester Futbol Club on the Friday evening and then delivered a coaching symposium on Sunday for RFC coaches with the session theme based around the curriculum and methodology of the Spanish FA.

“It was great to welcome Peter to Rochester for the weekend and the two events were fantastic for the parents, players and coaches of Rochester FC,” said NYPS General Manager Chris Howard. “The college seminar was a fantastic educational piece for our players and the on-field symposium presented the RFC coaches with a fresh insight and approach.”

GPS devotes significant time and resources towards ensuring all players are fully prepared for the college process and give significant support throughout the application phase. These services include college liaison officers, support documents, showcase opportunities and online college profiles.

Rochester, NY, 9th December 2011; The New York Premier Soccer School of Excellence is excited to announce that the Skills Academy is returning to Premier Sports Center, Webster.

The Skills Academy is returning to Premier Sports, Webster, after successfully being introduced last winter.

It is an innovative 6 week program with a focus on individual skill development. The Skills Academy will incorporate the national standards testing project put forward by iSoccer. For more information about iSoccer visit their website at www.iscoccer.org.

The Skills Academy is a unique non contact, 100% technical, player-centric program where players can track their progress with iSoccer score cards.

GPS Capture Two USL SYL North American Championships

Rochester, NY, 8^th December 2011; Global Premier Soccer (GPS) emerged victorious this week in Tampa, FL claiming two USL Super-Y League North American Championships.

The MPS U17 Renegades claimed their title after emerging top of their bracket and advancing to defeat Northern Virginia Majestics 3-1 in the championship game.

Brandon Flames, in conjunction with Florida Premier Soccer, also emerged top of their bracket and moved on to defeat TSF Academy (New Jersey) 3-0 to claim the first North American title for a GPS franchise.

“We set individual goals for each team prior to the USL Super-Y League North American Championships and it was pleasing to see two teams walk away with top honors.” said GPS Director of Coaching Peter Bradley. “It was a thoroughly pleasing weekend with 15 teams from Global Premier Soccer in attendance and we look forward to building on this success on a national stage in future years.”

Across the 15 teams represented by Global Premier Soccer, taking the field were teams from MPS Crusaders, MPS Lady Crusaders, MPS Bulldogs, MPS Renegades, MPS Knights, MPS Lady Knights (Massachusetts), MPS Portland Phoenix (Maine) and Brandon Flames (Florida).

“As an organization it was pleasing to see so many teams represent the Global Premier Soccer brand with professionalism over the weekend,” said Bradley. “In addition to winning two titles, we had regional and national team players on display which is testament to the strength and the quality of our organization.”

NYPS Granted Official Club Status By NYSWYSA

Rochester NY, 6th December 2011, New York Premier Soccer is proud to announce that they have been granted Official club status by New York State West Youth Soccer Association (NYSWYSA).

In the upcoming 2011/12 season NYPS will have between 5 and 7 teams competing in NYSWYSA competitions.

NYPS teams will be competing in the Thruway League, State Cup, and are expected to have a number of players on the ODP team.

All NYPS coaches are very excited about the prospect of competing for titles in 2011/12 season and hope to be competing in these tournaments for many years to come.

NYPS General Manager Chris Howard was delighted to announce that NYPS is now affiliated with NYSWYSA. “I believe this is a tremendous opportunity for NYPS as this now allows our elite players to perform at the highest level in western NY.
